Competitive spirit keeps Urban Partners in the mix
Friday, July 15, 2011 - Although the development and construction industry is still feeling the economic recession, the managing partners of Urban Partners Construction LLC said they’ve learned how to cope.
“Our industry is not in an uptick, but we’re working hard,” Managing Partner Edmundo Gonzalez said. “It’s made us a lot more driven, and we’ve learned a lot in the process. We’re survivors.”
Gonzalez said that even though they started as developers, they now look to every outlet for work, finding a balance between development and construction. Along the way, the company has picked up some national clients, including CompUSA, TigerDirect, Planet Fitness, Urban Flats and Hurricane Grill and Wings.
Urban Partners Construction also experienced 28.83 percent average annual revenue growth over the past three years.
“We do a really great job for our clients, and they remember that,” Gonzalez said. “There are a lot bigger companies out there, but because of that, we are right there in competition with them.”
Managing Partner Ronnie Leinwohl said those national clients are sending the company multiple projects. They try to save the clients some money along the way.
“There isn’t any magic to it,” Leinwohl said. “Save them money when you can and provide them great work, and they will come back. In the economy, people are watching their dollars.”
In addition, Leinwohl said they’ve dropped their boundaries and would go anywhere a client wants for a project. They plan to continue all of these practices even after the economy comes back up in their market.
“We are working a lot of hours,” Leinwohl said. “But we are persistent. All of our hard work and efficiency has paid off.”
